This type specifically is impermeable to water and sticks to the surfaces inside your locks for a longer period. Slide the key in and out of the lock several times to spread the lubricant. Use 3 in one lock dry lube to loosen lubricate and protect home auto and commercial locks. If this superficial cleaning doesn t free the lock eliminate the aggravation altogether.

A silicone spray lubricant is the best solution for your locks. Take about ten minutes to disassemble clean and reassemble the entire door lock. Get a screwdriver and remove the screws holding the lock on your door. Move the hinges to ensure the lubricant works into the areas around the moving parts.

Use graphite lubricant regularly as preventative maintenance to keep all locks lubricated and working smoothly. Remove cap and insert nozzle tip into key slot or apply to desired surface. You can also use silicone spray on the door latches because they also often contain nylon or plastic parts. Once taken apart use gum out or a similar type of cleaner to clean the inside of the lock and all moving parts.

Squeeze gently near center of tube to dispense. Leave the lock in the door but only remove the cover and other parts to get in to clean it. White lithium grease is ideal for the hood and trunk hinges. Make sure to buy a lubricant with a spray straw to access the deeply positioned parts of the locking system.

Spray the lubricant into the keyhole itself and then spray it on the key.
